If it's time to change or clean your mini blinds, the first thing you will need to do is learn how to take them off the window. The steps are straightforward, even though it might seem a little puzzling at first. This guide explains the steps to take to remove mini blinds easily and quickly.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

To remove a set of mini blinds from the window, all you need is a Phillips screwdriver and a ladder.

Step 2: Set Up the Ladder

Clear everything away from the window, both underneath and on the sides. Then set up the ladder securely on one side of the window.

Step 3: Pull Up the Blinds

Locate the cord that raises the blinds and pull on it to lift the blinds all the way up to the head rail. Pull the cord to the side that locks the blinds in place and give it a little tug.

Step 4: Take the Cover Off the Brackets

Climb the ladder carefully, and slide the cover off the bracket. If the cover doesn't come off, then you have a cover that either lifts up or pulls down. Perform whichever task you need to expose the bracket. When finished, climb off the ladder, and set it up on the other side of the window and do the same thing.

Step 5: Remove the Blinds

Move the ladder to the center of the window. Climb it enough to where you can grab the blinds with both hands, while leaning on the ladder. Once you have found your position, pull the blinds straight out.

Step 6: Unscrew the Brackets

If you are replacing the blinds, move the ladder to one end of the window, climb it and unscrew the mounting screws with the Phillips screwdriver. Pull the bracket off the wall. Climb off the ladder, move it to the other side and do the same thing.
